500 metres from Llas beach and a short walk from the Foz estuary, Atalaia is a stopover designed by and for motorhomers: roomy pitches, spotless facilities and a host who knows the road as well as you do.
“Atalaia” is Galician for the high ground from which you watch the sea.
And that is exactly what this is: a crushed-shell esplanade in the parish of San Martiño de Mondoñedo, on the Forxán road, with the meadows of A Mariña in front and the Cantabrian Sea behind. People come here to sleep to the sound of the sea, walk to the beach and come back in the evening for a beer at the on-site bar.
Atalaia opened in 2017 and is run by Moncho, a motorhomer before he was a host. You notice it in the details: real pitches — not painted lines in a car park —, two service points for filling and emptying, a laundry, a TV lounge, a pet area and a chill-out lawn with thatched parasols for summer evenings.
As for cleanliness — just ask anyone who has stayed here.
